LinkedIn Learning is an award-winning industry leader in online training, with a digital library of over 6,000 courses covering a wide range of technical, business, software and creative topics. You may watch an entire course, or individual videos – some are as short as four or five minutes. You will be able to bookmark courses that suit your interests, keep track of the courses you have taken, and when you complete a course, you’ll receive a certificate. You have the opportunity to refine or develop your professional skills, learn new software, and explore other areas as you plan for your career growth. In a few cases, VTSU will assign courses to staff and faculty as needed for safety, DEI-related, or other initiatives.
LinkedIn Learning also offers tremendous potential for managers and employees to create development plans as part of the performance review process. Effective leaders are committed to developing their staff, and they understand fundamentally that supporting a workplace culture that fosters learning and development requires continuous personal commitment and access to resources. We encourage managers to discuss learning needed to successfully perform evolving job responsibilities, achieve career paths, and support professional growth, with their staff.
Sign up and log in
Below is an outline of how to log in and accept the LinkedIn Learning license using your VSC account. Vermont State University faculty, staff, and students must create their account before a course can be assigned to them.
Navigate to LinkedIn Learning
Open the LinkedIn Learning Vermont State Colleges URL.
Complete the VSC Login and multi-factor authentication steps.
Select options
You can select any of the options that best match your needs. In the example below, “Grow and advance in my current career” was selected. This choice affects which courses are recommended by LinkedIn Learning.
Connect your LinkedIn Profile
If you have a personal LinkedIn Profile then you should select Connect LinkedIn Profile. This option will allow you to showcase the courses you have completed. Skipping this step will not impact courses you have access to within LinkedIn Learning.
If you choose not to connect your LinkedIn profile, you will be prompted to enter your job title. In the example provided, “Project Manager” was selected. Once you have entered your title, please select “Continue”.
Select skills and goals
Next it will ask you which skills you would like to develop. You must select at least one, but three to give are recommended. Once you have made your selections you must select “Continue” to move to the next screen.
The last question is about setting a goal. If you would like a reminder each week to complete training from LinkedIn, then select your desired goal.
LinkedIn Learning homepage
Once you have completed the initial account creation steps you will be passed to the LinkedIn Learning home page. You can find courses that are recommended by LinkedIn Learning on the homepage. You can find courses that are published by Vermont State University HR Department by navigating to the “My Library” section on the left side of the homepage, and then selecting “Assigned by Vermont State University“.
